First make sure that any current version of TeamViewer is not currently running by moving your cursor to the bottom right hand corner of the taskbar and looking for the blue Teamviewer icon.
Once you have found the blue teamviewer icon right click the teamviewer icon and move your cursor down to “exit teamviewer” and click it.
Once you have exited teamviewer you will now need to uninstall it. The easiest way to do this is to either go to control panel through the start menu or to use the run command by pressing both the windows key and the letter R on your keyboard simultaneously.
If you have initiated the run command correctly you will get a window pop up that says run at the top of it.
You will now need to type in the following word “appwiz.cpl” without the inverted commas in the now open run command window. Once you have typed this hit enter or click “ok”
You will now be greeted with a window that says “Programs and Features” scroll down till you can find the current version of TeamViewer and highlight it.
Once you have highlighted teamviewer right click the highlighted teamviewer version, an option will pop up saying “uninstall” click this option to commence the Teamviewer uninstall.
Once you have clicked uninstall the Teamviewer uninstall window will appear tick the box that says “Remove settings”
Once you’ve have selected the check box go ahead and click the “Uininstall” button in the bottom left hand corner.
Wait for the uninstall process to complete this should take roughly 5 minutes the windows will change and say the word “Completed” and give you the option “Close” click this to finish the removal of your old Teamviewer version.
You will now need to reboot your system by going to the bottom left hand corner of your system and selecting the Windows button. To reboot your system, click the small power icon in the bottom left hand corner a list of options will be displayed move your cursor and click to select “Restart”
To install Teamviewer please first make sure that it is in fact uninstalled using the uninstall steps mentioned before. If you are sure it has been uninstalled go ahead and click the windows icon in the bottom left hand corner and select your preferred web browser this could be either Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Opera or Safari.
At the top of your chosen web browser type into the address bar the following and hit enter https://get.teamviewer.com/perceptive alternatively click the link to be taken to the TeamViewer download page.
After a couple seconds you will either be greeted with a “Save As” window or a bar where you can select “save as” or “save” this is all dependent on your chosen web browser. Go ahead and select “Save”
After clicking save the application will begin downloading to your system. The file should be 6.7 MB in size and depending on your connection speed it can take a couple seconds to 5 minutes to download. Once the file is downloaded you will need to run it by selecting run or double clicking the downloaded program.
After double clicking or selecting run on the download application a window will open up commencing the new teamviewer installation. Go ahead and click the next button.
After clicking next you will be greeted with a list of options, please make sure to select “Both of the above” this will allow us as well as any other company or user that uses a non-commercial version of TeamViewer to access your system. You can then go ahead and click “next”.
On the next slide make sure to tick the box to accept the license agreement terms and then click the next button to complete the installation of the new teamviewer.
Once the installation is complete a new window will launch name “Unattended access” go ahead and click the next button.
In this slide you will input your full name first name and surname in the “Computer name” field. You must then input a password of your choice in both the “Password” and “Confirm password” fields please make sure to make the password 8 characters and something that is easy to remember as your technician will ask you for this password in order to connect to you remotely. After inputting your details go ahead and click next.
After clicking next a new slide will pop up which will tell you the setup is complete, go ahead and click finish.
After a few seconds a new window will pop up giving you information of the account assignment please go ahead and click “Allow and finish”
You have now installed and configured teamviewer you may now phone or email your support technician and provide them with both the ID displayed on the teamviewer windows as well as the password you inputted during the setup process.
